Nobody told me this! I KNOW! The nature of my addiction is that the problems I had emotionally and spiritually came BEFORE alcoholism, not after. Accordingly, simply to stop drinking isn't enough for my recovery.

This is new to me. I just joined the site and have been struggling to be sober for a couple of years. I am a widow and dealing with the loss of my husband a year and a half ago has been difficult.

Yea, I can relate. Who are we to say when its gods will for someone to get a sponsor. Breaking us down sometimes is only way to be built back up again. It says in the 12 and 12, I think step 10 that "Pain is the touchstone to all spiritual growth"

Thanks for your insight....he asked my advice but really maybe didn't want to hear it. The Big Book says if we are willing to go to any lengths....For me, having a sponsor right away when I got sober helped me and still does. Thank you again. Peace!
